The Town of Springfield held their annual Civil War Reenactment of the Battle of Blood River March 11-13, 2011, at Fayard Field and hosted by Louisiana State Millitia 10th Brigade. A ladies tea was held Saturday morning at the Carter House on Carter Plantation and hosted by the Historical Carter House Society and residents of Carter Plantation. Auxiliary members of the 5th Washington Artillery made a presentation on the history and uses of Absinthe. A gentlemen's social was also held that evening at the Carter House for the officers of the brigade.
