Due to the need to place children in daycares after the floods in Livingston Parish, the staff at PARDS, Brandi Posey and Monica Troxclair, have begun a Pre-K Program. Youth from the Denham Springs area participate in lessons from teachers, Ms. Kim and Ms. Jan.

To supplement their learning, Layne Langley with the LSU AgCenter has been visiting the Pre-K students to deliver a nutrition series with them.

Using the OrganWise Guys Curriculum, Langley has introduced the children to Organ Annie and Organ Andy.

The two dolls that house the OrganWise Guys including: Hardy Heart, Madame Muscle, Sir Rebrum the brain, the Kidney Brothers - Sid and Kid, Windy the Lungs, Calci M. Bone, and Peri Stolic the intestines.

During each program, Langley teaches the children how to be healthy from the inside out and how to take care of their organs.

They also learn the functions of the organs by participating in the interactive stories.

The children have also enjoyed sampling tasty snacks related to the interactive stories.

For more information about the nutrition program at PARDS, contact Layne Langley at 225-686-3020 or at lalangley@agcenter.lsu.edu.
