Both sides of Interstate 12 will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, May 17-18, according to the state Department of Transportation & Development.

There will be intermittent closures of both eastbound and westbound lanes approximately three-tenths of a mile east of Juban Road, said Kris Wascom, DOTD project engineer with District 62 in Hammond.

The closures will last up to 20 minutes each time, Wascom said, for workers to perform overhead utility maintenance.

There is no detour, he added, but motorists can take U.S. 190 as an alternate route to avoid this closure.

There are no permit restrictions for this closure, Wascom said, but emergency vehicles should take U.S. 190 to avoid a delay during this time.
