DENHAM SPRINGS – A joint investigation by the Denham Springs Police Department the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms led to the arrest of a convicted felon who allegedly stole firearms.
Police arrested Marcus J. Luter, 29, of 13927 Heritage Oak Drive, Baton Rouge, after officers seized two military-style weapons – an HK 91 5.56 mm rifle and an UZI 9mm rifle, DSPD Chief Shannon Womack said Monday morning.
Officers also seized a quantity of a suspected methamphetamine during the operation, he said.
Lutcr was completing a transaction of stolen firearms in Denham Springs at the time of the arrest, Womack said.
He had an extensive felony criminal record, the police chief said.
Luter was booked on two counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a Schedule II CDS and illegal carrying of weapons with narcotics.
He is in custody at Livingston Parish Detention Center. Bond set at $210,000, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office website.
The case remains under investigation, Womack said.
