DENHAM SPRINGS -- The Denham Springs Police Department will tighten enforcement against thru-traffic at Memorial Cemetery, Police Chief Shannon Womack said today.

The move follows an increase over the last several months in thru-traffic along the one-lane passage way at the cemetery on Range Avenue, near Cockerham Road.

"It's dangerous to visitors and can damage the grounds or grave sites," Womack said. "Above all that, it's disrespectful."

The city will install "No Thru Traffic" signs at both ends of the cemetery.

Police officers may also issue citations if the violations persist, Womack said.
