DENHAM SPRINGS – An Ascension Parish man died Sunday, May 14, after he lost control of his motorcycle and a car hit him, according to Louisiana State Police.

Donald McNair, 66, of Prairieville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office, said State Trooper Bryan Lee, Troop A spokesman.

Troopers responded at noon Sunday to a report of a fatal crash on La. 16 east of Juban Road (La. 1026), he said.

McNair was eastbound on La. 16 on a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control in a curve and slid into the westbound lane of La. 16, Lee said.

He was struck by a 2006 Ford Escape driven by Diane Bezdek, 81, of Greenwell Springs, he said.

McNair sustained fatal injuries; Bezdek was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis, the state trooper said.
