LIVINGSTON – Former TV reality show star Will Hayden pleaded no contest in 21st Judicial District Court on Wednesday morning to a pair of sex charges.
Hayden, 52, of Greenwell Springs, pleaded no contest to aggravated rape and aggravated incest, a spokesman for District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said.
He was sentenced to life in prison on the aggravated rape count and 10 years on the incest count, the spokesman said.
Both sentences will run concurrent with his sentence from his conviction in East Baton Rouge Parish court.
Hayden was convicted April 7 on two counts of aggravated rape and one count of forcible rape in 19th Judicial District Court.
He was sentenced May 11 to two concurrent life terms on the aggravated rape charges and 40 years on the forcible rape charge.
By pleading no contest, if Hayden’s sentence in his East Baton Rouge Parish conviction is reversed on appeal, he would be allowed to withdraw his plea and have a right to a trial in Livingston Parish.
Perrilloux had indicated after Hayden’s conviction in East Baton Rouge Parish that he might dismiss the charges without prejudice, so if Hayden’s appeal there was successful, the prosecutor could refile the charges.
“Sons of Guns” was a television show on the Discovery Channel that aired from 2011-14 focusing on Hayden’s business, Red Jacket Firearms, in Baton Rouge.
