A resident of Watson, Hillman Stokes Simmons Jr. passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Colonial Care Nursing Home at the age of 75. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He retired from the City of Baton Rouge where he was a Waste Water Supervisor. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Saturday, Aug. 13, beginning at 9 a.m. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene Banta Simmons; three sons, Darren Simmons and wife Shelisa, Richy Simmons, and Rusty Simmons and wife Kelly; daughter, Shannon Purvis and husband Randy; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Austin, Brandi, Charity, Cameron, Brandon, and Aaron; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alexis, and Aubree; brother, Billy Simmons and wife Anita; four sisters, Clara Schexnayder and husband Danny, Peggy Page and husband Dennis, Patsy Phillips and husband Johnny, and Bobbie Wyers and husband Seaman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred McDaniels; stepfather, Leo “Mac” D. McDaniels; biological father, Hillman Stokes Simmons Sr.; and sister, Glenda Gates and husband Raymond.
