DENHAM SPRINGS — Yellow Jacket Stadium on the campus of Denham Springs High School will be the site of this year’s 11th annual U.S. Army Red Stick Bowl, an all-star football game that features the top Baton Rouge metro-area high school seniors.
The match-up between the Black Knights and Rough Riders will kick off this Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
St. Amant head coach David Oliver will hold the reins of the Black Knights, while Port Allen head coach Guy Blanchard will coach the Rough Riders.
Gates will open at 1:30 p.m., with the admission price of $10 for adults and $5 for students and children.
The teams practiced Monday through Wednesday at Baton Rouge’s BREC Independence Park, with a scheduled walk-through today at Yellow Jackets Stadium.
Numerous Livingston Parish players will be participating, including the 2011 parish “Offensive Most Valuable Player,” Walker running back Carlton Perkins, and Denham Springs defensive lineman and LSU commitment Tevin Lawson.
Other local parish players playing with the Rough Riders include DSHS quarterback Zach Borne, Yellow Jackets tight end Sterling Suggs and offensive lineman Hunter Holmes; Springfield linebacker Tanner Wild and Bulldog defensive lineman Wade Wheat; and Live Oak defensive lineman Ryan Kimball.
