ALBANY -- Brittany Turner hurled a complete game with five strikeouts, and Kaci Payne went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead Albany to an 8-3 win over Springfield on Thursday.
Doyle senior Madison Watts was tabbed the District 9-2A Most Valuable Player, and Samantha White of Doyle was selected Coach of the Year.
Doyle's Tristan Jones was selected the District 9-2A boys basketball Most Valuable Player, and Doyle coach Daniel Kennedy was chosen the league's Coach of the Year.

HAMMOND -- St. Thomas Aquinas scored seven runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to key a 14-1 win over Springfield in District 9-2A action on March 28.
Olivia Lackie struck out 14 in a complete game and had an RBI single in the first inning to lead Holden to a 1-0 win over Ponchatoula on March 22, while Holden erupted for 10 runs in the first inning to spark a 21-1 win over Mount Hermon on March 21.
