Mercy Lobell of French Settlement turns 92

Mercy Lobell, born on Oct. 3, 1925, recently celebrated her 92nd birthday with an English Tea Party at her home in French Settlement, and plenty of friends and family were there in honor of her special day.

Mercy Lobell, a resident of French Settlement who served as president of the French Settlement Historical Society and helped maintain the Creole House Museum for many years, celebrated her 92nd birthday on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Mercy’s birthday party — an English Tea Party — took place at her home in French Settlement on Saturday, Sept. 30, with close to 25 people in attendance, including her sons, their families, several nieces and nephews, and other dear friends.

Friends and family visited with each other while sipping on tea and lemonade that was being served. The ladies were also given little “hats” to wear, and a good time was had by all.
