The Tri-Parish Ballet will hold open auditions for dancers to participate in its upcoming summer tour of “The Magic Book Store” on Saturday, May 11.

Auditions will begin at 1 p.m. at the Odyssey Academy of Dance, located at 31342 La. Hwy. 16 in Denham Springs. The auditions are open to dancers age 8 and older, and there is a $5 audition fee.

The Tri-Parish Ballet, comprised of dancers from Livingston, East Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes, puts on an annual summer tour that includes more than a dozen stops throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area.

During past tours, the company has traditionally visited all five branches of the Livingston Parish Library system.

Last year, seven dancers ages 7-20 performed “La Carnival” during 19 shows over a two-week period. The production, loosely based on the 2017 musical “The Greatest Showman,” came one year after the Tri-Parish Ballet performed “The Little Mermaid.”

In addition to the summer tour, the Tri-Parish Ballet also puts on Livingston Parish’s own production of "The Nutcracker" every year at Christmas. Last December, two members of the Orlando Ballet accompanied dancers in the production.
