Port Allen – Come on a journey filled with fiddle music, pirogue water fun, animal escapades, crafts and Cajun folk tales.
Registration opens for the West Baton Rouge Museum’s 22nd annual Blast from the Past Summer History Camp series on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
A “Tales from the Bayou” adventure awaits for ages 6–12 complete with music and culture from the Atchafalaya region.
This year’s camp participants will enjoy storytelling, music, art, language, culture, history and a variety of hands-on activities including games and making art projects to keep.
Museum staff and visiting artists, performers, linguists and storytellers will lead time travel through the swampy bayous where campers will explore the exciting world of nature and history known only in Louisiana.
Two one-week sessions are available to choose from.
Blast from the Past will be offered on June 19–23 and on June 26–30.
Camper drop off is from 8–8:30 a.m. and pick up is from 3–3:30 p.m.
Campers will need to bring a bag lunch. Snacks and drinks will be provided daily.
Space is limited. Advanced, paid registration is required, and reservations are taken on a first come, first paid basis.
