LIVINGSTON – A Denham Springs man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading no contest to possession with intent to distribute heroin, according to District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

Judge Charlotte Foster handed down the sentence in 21st Judicial District court to DeShane Chandler, 30, Perrilloux said.

Assistant District Attorney Kurt Wall prosecuted the case, with Chandler pleading no contest to possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled dangerous substances.

He received credit for time served, Perrilloux said.

Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted state Office of Probation and Parole agents on Dec. 6 with a warrant round-up when information was obtained that Chandler was at a residence on Rosewood Street in Denham Springs.

Upon arrival to the residence, the homeowner allowed deputies to enter and confirmed Chandler was in a bedroom.

Deputies located Chandler and observed various articles of drug paraphernalia on a night stand.

Probation agents 23 individually wrapped bags of heroin beneath the mattress.

Chandler admitted the drugs belonged to him.
