HOLDEN -- Four Mississippi residents died and a Loranger man was seriously injured in an early morning car crash April 25 on Interstate 12 eastbound, east of La. 63 in Walker, according to Louisiana State Police Troop A.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. when Willie Smith Jr., of Loranger, was traveling westbound on I-12 in a 1998 Lincoln Town Car. At the same time, a Mississippi man and his three passengers were traveling eastbound on I-12 in a 2010 Nissan Altima.
For reasons still under investigation, Tobias Jones crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes of travel, which resulted in the Lincoln striking the Nissan head-on.
The four Mississippi residents were identified as:
- Tobias Jones, 30, of Magnolia (driver)
- Marcus Feltus, 35, of Crosby
- Natasha Moore, 36, of McComb
- Anya Ewell, 38, also of McComb
Jones was properly restrained at the time of the crash and was transported to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond with serious injuries.
All four Mississippi residents were unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. They were pronounced deceased on scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is unknown at this time.
Routine toxicology samples were taken from both drivers and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.
