LIVINGSTON – Livingston Parish public schools will close Thursday due to forecasts of enhanced risks of severe weather, Superintendent Rick Wentzel announced this afternoon.
“We will close out our schools out of abundance of safety due to severe weather forecast for our area,” he said. “We would encourage people to remain indoors and stay safe.”
Livingston Parish Schools are already scheduled to be closed April 19-26 for spring break.
A 100 percent chance of rain is in the forecast for Thursday, with a possibility of damaging winds and large hail, as well as threats of tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast calls for 1 to 2 inches of rain, and southeasterly winds between 15 and 25 mph.
