WALKER – Motorists using a key traffic artery through Walker will have to improvise today and Thursday while the CN Railroad works on a crossing.

Walker North Road (La. 447) was closed at the railroad crossing near Ball Park Road at 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Walker police spokesman.

It will remain closed until 9 p.m. Wednesday, then will be closed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, said Capt. John Sharp, police spokesman.

Motorists should consider two alternate routes: Corbin Avenue and Duff Road, Sharp said.

“Expect heavy traffic during morning and evening commute times,” he said. “Give yourself plenty of additional time to reach your destination.”

This is the third Walker area crossing that the CN Railroad has worked on in the past two weeks.

Work on crossings at Corbin Avenue (La. 1029) and North Corbin Road (La. 449) also required road closures.
