Dixie Electric Membership Corporation (DEMCO), one of the largest electric cooperatives in Louisiana serving over 108,000 members in seven southeast parishes of Louisiana, is seeking a CEO and General Manager due to the upcoming retirement of its current CEO and General Manager who has successfully led the cooperative since 2009.
Job Description: Under the direction of the DEMCO Board of Directors, directs the day-to-day operations and administration of the Cooperative and makes recommendations on objectives, plans, policies, and programs in all areas which are vital to the existence and growth of the cooperative. The CEO and General Manager ensures that Cooperative business transactions and operations are carried out in compliance with industry and environmental standards, and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Serves as the Cooperative’s principal spokesperson, representative, and negotiator, and establishes positive relationships with the consumer-owners, individual employees, union, lending institutions, industry associations, legislative bodies, community leaders, civic and community organizations, governmental agencies, and regulatory authorities, the media, and the general public in order to garner support for the Cooperative. Works with the Cooperative’s General Counsel to achieve legal and regulatory objectives. Participates in and provides support to efforts which contribute to our area’s economic/industrial development and a higher quality of life for consumer-owners.
• A four-year degree in engineering, business or a related field from an accredited university. A portion of the experience requirement may be substituted.
• Ten years’ experience in progressively responsible positions, with a minimum of five years supervisory experience at the senior management level.
• Experience in dealing with the Louisiana Public Service Commission is preferred but not mandatory.
