DENHAM SPRINGS -- More than 200 seniors attended the Livingston Council on Aging’s “The Price is Right”-themed Fun Day on Thursday, July 12.
The Fun Day consisted of price guessing, a handmade Plinko, games of Blackjack and prizes for seniors to take home.
Wearing a black blazer and matching black slacks, COA driver Clayton Johnson Jr. served as the emcee for the event, doing his best impersonation of popular “Price is Right” hosts Bob Barker and Drew Carey.
And though there weren’t any television crews or commercials breaks, there was still plenty of fun for the seniors — not to mention a wide variety of prizes thanks to a local business.
Kay Granger, COA executive director, said the prizes were the result of a “generous donation” from First Guaranty Bank of Denham Springs, which gave $8,000 to the organization to use for the event.
That money helped purchase dozens of prizes, including a 32-inch flat screen television, a microwave, an outdoor patio set, a new mattress, sewing machines, karaoke systems, tablets, power pressure cookers and a grill. Gift cards and cash prizes were also given out, as well as the grocery store items seniors guessed the prices of.
After the Showcase Showdown, attendees enjoyed a lunch of hot dogs, chips and refreshments.
The Livingston Council on Aging is comprised of four meal sites in Denham Springs, Livingston, Springfield and Maurepas.
