Livingston Parish Library, Walker Walgreens to offer free flu shots

Walgreens pharmacy technician Rebecca LaRochelle gives Chris Shipp a flu shot during the Albany-Springfield Branch of the Livingston Parish Library’s Healthy Start To A New Year seminar on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Walgreens and the Livingston Parish Library are teaming up to provide free flu shots to the public in September 2018.

The Livingston Parish Library (LPL) is teaming up with Walgreens of Walker to provide free flu shots to the public in September.

From Sept. 11-26, all five LPL branches will host one day of free flu shots in an attempt to hit all corners of the parish as the calendar goes from summer to fall.

Pre-registration and insurance cards are not required for the flu shots, said LPL Public Relations Manager Jeremy Travis, who added that the service is available to all ages, though children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

On average, pharmacists from Walgreens in Walker, located at 10200 Florida Blvd., have administered 15-20 free flu shots to patrons at each LPL branch over the past two years. There’s no limit on the availability of the flu shots, Travis said.
