ALBANY – Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Ponchatoula woman on a charge of attempted second-degree murder and hit-and-run after she reportedly tried to strike a pedestrian.
Kimberly Ann Kling, 45, of 15122 Wadesboro Road, traveled southbound on Pea Ridge Road when she intentionally swerved from the southbound lane to the northbound lane to hit a female, according to Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Monday. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The pedestrian had crossed the road to check her mail when Kling struck her, according to the report from LPSO.
Kling intentionally fled from the scene, but deputies located her.
“As for a motive, it’s unclear at this point in the investigation,” Ard said.
Kling is in custody in the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a $100,500 bond. She was also booked on a DWI charge.
The incident remains under investigation.
