WATSON – Bond has been set at $200,400 for a Denham Springs man accused of a Dec. 31 shooting in Watson, according to booking records.

Michael Meade, 38, was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on two counts of attempted second-degree murder, home invasion and court costs.

No bond was allowed on the home invasion count; bond was set at $200,000 on the attempted murder counts. All three counts are felonies. Bond was set at $400 on the court cost count, a misdemeanor.

Meade surrendered to authorities shortly after the shooting, Sheriff Jason Ard said. The shooting occurred at noon near Lotts Lane in the Watson area.

“One victim, a male, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for more than one gunshot wound,” Ard said on Dec. 31. “The victim was alert when transported.

“At this point in the investigation, it appears this was not a random act. We believe the suspect and the victim were familiar with one another,” Ard said.

“This investigation is still very much ongoing.”

Meade surrendered to authorities an hour after the Sheriff’s Office released a bulletin and a description of his vehicle. Meade was seen in a blue, older model Chevrolet S10. The Sheriff’s Office released a photo of the truck taken by a nearby surveillance camera.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 686-2241 ext. 1 or Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
