Work by the state Department of Transportation and Development will continue this week on two highway projects on Florida Boulevard and Interstate 12.

DENHAM SPRINGS – Two ongoing highway projects, between Denham Springs and Walker, and Livingston and Holden, will continue this week, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development.

Both projects will be operating from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., said Kris Wascom, project engineer with the DOTD District 62 office in Hammond.

Both lanes of Florida Boulevard from Pete’s Highway (La. 16) in Denham Springs to Walker South Road (La. 447) in Walker face closures through Saturday, April 21, Wascom said.

At least one lane will remain open at all times.

These lane closures are necessary to allow crews to perform asphalt operations, he said.

To avoid the construction zone, motorists may use Interstate 12 as an alternate route, he said.

The other project will affect both eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 12 from three miles west of the La. 63 interchange at Livingston to one mile east of the La. 441 interchange at Holden, Wascom said.

Alternating lane closures will be in effect through Friday, April 20. At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

This lane closure is to allow crews to do asphalt work and to install pavement markings, Wascom said.

Motorists may take Florida Boulevard as an alternate route to avoid the nightly lane closures, he said.
