DENHAM SPRINGS – Counselors were made available to students at Denham Springs Freshman High School on Sept. 12 after the death of a student one day earlier.

Principal Ken Magee did not release any other details on the student.

The Livingston Parish School System, as protocol, assigns grief counselors upon the loss of a student, he said.

“Whenever there’s a crisis in the parish, the school board calls in a counseling team from schools closest to ours so that when the student need counseling, it’s made available to them,” Magee said.

No other details were released.

“Out of respect to the family, we’re not releasing any other information at this time,” Magee said.
