LIVINGSTON -- Recreational boating can resume in all Livingston Parish waterways, just in time for the weekend.
The Livingston Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will open the waterways south of Interstate 12 which had been closed since Tuesday, according to Mark Harrell, director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
The affected waterways will reopen at noon.
Waterways had been closed since Tuesday as tides shifted before the arrival of Hurricane Michael, which made landfall Wednesday as a powerful Category 4 storm.
The hurricane has caused three deaths and widespread damage as it barreled through the Panama City area and on to Georgia. Remnants of the storm brought heavy rain to the Atlantic Seaboard later in the week.
As for south Louisiana, clear skies and cooler temperatures are forecasted throughout the weekend and into next week. Highs will be in the lower 80s and overnight lows in the low to mid 50s.
