WALKER – Northshore Technical Community College’s groundbreaking ceremony Monday of its Walker campus has been moved.

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, as planned, but will take place at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center, located at 9261 Florida Blvd.

The location of the groundbreaking ceremony had to be moved due to a recent compaction test on the new road from Burgess Avenue to the construction site.

The test showed vehicle traffic might not be able to drive on the dirt road.

Cangelosi Ward General Contractors, of Baton Rouge, will be building the 20,000-square-foot building at a cost of $5.8 million.

NTCC Chancellor William Wainwright said the plan is to open the Walker campus in the fall of 2019.
