DENHAM SPRINGS — More options for recreational activities are coming to the city according to a monthly report submitted by City Building Inspector Rick Foster.

As construction continues on Alex Xiao’s Livingston Square Shopping Center, wherein the parking lot has been redone, landscaping added, and building facades replaced - construction has begun on Airborne Extreme, the centerpiece for the development’s resurgence. Airborne Extreme will be a family entertainment facility, focused around a trampoline park - similar to the Area 51 facility in Baton Rouge, near Mall of Louisiana.

Xiao is also looking to attract local businesses into the new units, as well as a national retailer to share some space in the main building.

But, a competitor has entered the ring. After an enigmatic ‘announcement’ was released about their arrival, Urban Air Adventure Park has submitted construction plans to the city of Denham Springs.

Despite attempts to secure a press release, Urban Air has been rather silent about their timeline to arrive in the Denham Springs area.

Urban Air is based out of Sugar Land, TX and has expanded rapidly across the country in the past two years - including new locations in Lincoln, NE; Pasadena, TX; and Crystal Lake, IL.

In other business, the city has issued a permit and construction has begun on the new BRQ Restaurant. Founded by a Denham Springs native in Baton Rouge, local owner Justin Ferguson has decided to bring his culinary talents home.

The restaurant targets a September opening date.

According to the city’s report, new businesses in the area include - Elegent Kitchen Design, 905-A Florida Ave.; La Louisiana Hair and Beauty Studio, 1318 Florida Ave.; Deep South Auto Specialist, 2261 S. Range Ave.; Tidal WAters Properties, 133 Aspen Square, Ste. B; Salon Ares, 1528 S. Range Ave.; Perfect! Lawn Maintenance, 111 Centerville St.; Addiction Boutique, 233 N. Range Ave.; Dream Fountain Spa, 2570 Florida Ave., Ste. A; Antique Cottage II, 215 N. Range Ave.; and Cornerstone Counseling, 510 N. Range Ave.
