The Walker High boys basketball team celebrates winning the Class 5A championship.

A community parade and championship T-shirts are in the works to celebrate the Class 5A state championship won Saturday by the Walker boys basketball team.

The Wildcats defeated Landry-Walker High 62-57 in overtime Saturday night at the All-State Sugar Bowl/LSHAA Boys Basketball Tournament to wins its first boys basketball title.

A parade to celebrate the championship will begin at 6 pm. Tuesday at Walker Freshman High at Burgess Avenue near Walker South Road.

 “We ask the community to line up on Burgess (Avenue) to see the boys and the 5A trophy,” the school announcement said. “We will go to the stadium and have a community celebration in the stadium.”

Walker High School also announced Sunday that an order for championship shirts will be placed Monday and they should arrive Thursday or Friday.

The Nike cotton shirts are $20. To order them, send a message to Jason St. Pierre on Facebook with the number of T-shirts and sizes.
