BATON ROUGE -- A 28-year-old Walker man was killed Monday evening when his pickup crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman.

Police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely identified the man as Cody Charrier, of Walker.

The accident occurred at 11:45 p.m. Monday on Interstate 12 near the Sherwood Forest Boulevard interchange, McKneely said.

Charrier was pronounced dead at the scene by the Coroner’s Office, he said.

McKneely said Charrier was not wearing a seat belt and traffic investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
