WALKER – Walker North Road’s intersection with Corbin Avenue will have single-lane closures from Friday, Oct. 13, to Friday Nov. 17, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development.

The lane closures, with flagging operations will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, then 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, said Kris Wascom, project engineer with the District 62 office in Hammond.

One lane will remain open at all times, he said.

This lane closure is necessary to allow crews to widen the existing road and build a new turn lane, he said.

To avoid the construction zone, motorists may use La. 449 as an alternate route, Wascom said.
