Doyle LaVaughn Austin, 89, of Denham Springs, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Doyle was born on June 29, 1928, in Lebanon, Missouri. He was a graduate of Conway High School in Conway, Missouri, and was a retired pipeline welder with Pipeliners Local Union 798. Doyle was a strong, humble, and kind man. He was the best husband, dad, pawpaw, and friend. He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and at his church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ora Lee Holiday Austin; father, Guy Benjamin Austin; brother Chesley Leon Austin; sister, Billie Dean Austin Caldwell; sister, Olive Austin Watson; and daughter, Katrina Pack Austin. Doyle is survived by his wife of 52 years Rochelle Frances Austin; daughter, Anita Austin and son-in-law, Mike Keefe; son, Wesley Curtis Bray; daughter, Belinda Austin Avant and son-in-law, Gregory James Avant; daughter Selina Austin Day; daughter, Sonia Austin Schenk and son-in-law, Trey Schenk. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jenny Pack Tarwater, Jason Lee Pack, David Ryan Pack, Delaney Keefe, Brady Keefe, Whitley Day Rushing, Austin Gregory Avant, Aubrey Lynn Day, Sydney Austyn Day, and Brenton Andrew Schenk; great granddaughter, Reagan Tarwater; and pets, Blossom and Drake. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, from 9 a.m. until service at noon at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, with burial to follow. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Greenwell Springs Baptist Church and friends for all of their support.
