Edward Lee Ivy

Edward Lee Ivy, age 87, peacefully departed this life for his heavenly home on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 26, surrounded by family. Born on March 18, 1931, in New Orleans, LA, he resided in Mississippi until the age of 17, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed in San Diego, CA, throughout his service. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Garrison, whom he met on a blind date. Married for 66 years, Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret Ivy, of Denham Springs, LA; and grown children, Cindy Nuckolls (Craig) of Denham Springs, LA; Pat Davidson (Harold) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Shelly Evans (Jim) of Pensacola, FL. Ed was the very proud “Papoo” to his four grandchildren, Courtney Nuckolls, Jesse Davidson, Samantha Davidson and Claire Evans. He also has one great-grandson, Ethan Nuckolls, who affectionately called him “Pa.” Throughout his working career, he served as a Louisiana State Trooper, a job that he cherished. A highlight of that career was serving for various governors at the Louisiana State Mansion. During his career, he was affectionately known as “Dumpling” to his fellow officers. To friends and family alike, Ed was always quick-witted, tinged with just the right amount of sarcasm. Away from work, Ed enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and attending many and varied functions and sports activities of his grandchildren. Throughout the last 35 years of being an active member of New Covenant Baptist Church, Ed especially enjoyed serving with Margaret in the Food Pantry ministry and attending Dr. Ed Walker’s Sunday School class through the years. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, from 1:30 p.m. until a memorial service to honor Ed's life at 3 p.m. Donations may be made to Shriner’s Childrens’ Fund.
