Mattie Ballard Morris Palmer died Monday, May 29, 2006. She was 82. She was retired from the Livingston Parish school system with 22 years of service as school food manager at Northside Elementary. She was a charter member of the Northside Baptist Church, where she served in many areas, including singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school for more than 54 years. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Thursday from 10 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. George Terrell. Burial will be in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Bobbye Morris Corbitt and Linda Faye Morris; two grandchildren, Todd and Scott Corbitt; sister, Viola Preuett; brother, Arthur Ballard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fern Morris; second husband, Richard B. Palmer; parents, Thomas Benton Ballard and Mary Elizabeth McDowell Ballard; three sisters, Bertie Pate, Winnie Sibley and Rosa Lea Wills; five brothers, Henry, Charlie, Ivy, Joe and Leland Ballard; and son-in-law, David L. Corbitt.
