SPRINGFIELD – Lauren Price’s two-run double in the bottom of the 5th inning lifted Springfield to an 8-6 win over French Settlement in the District 10-2A opener for both teams on Tuesday.

Springfield led 6-0 before the Lady Lions rallied to knot the game at 6-6.

FSHS (3-10, 0-1 district) scored four runs in the 3rd, sparked by Jackie Crosby’s two-run triple. The Lady Lions tied the score in the 4th on Rainey Allen’s two-run home run.

Springfield (5-8, 1-0 district) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st, keyed by Caleigh Steele’s two-run triple.

Price had an RBI single, and Tabby Lobell scored on a passed ball to put Springfield up 6-0 in the 2nd inning. Payton Clouatre led FSHS with three hits, while Crosby and Sarah Petite each had two.

Lobell collected three hits, while Price and Halee Morris each had two hits. Annie Romano gave up four hits in 3.1 innings of relief to get the win.

Springfield hosts Hammond at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, while French Settlement hosts Doyle at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
