FRENCH SETTLEMENT -- Trevor Bovia had a two-run home run and Chase Guitreau added a three-run double as Maurepas scored five runs in the final two innings for a 5-2 Metro League victory over French Settlement at the French Settlement Baseball Complex on Tuesday.

A scheduled second game was called because of rain in the top of the 1st inning. The teams are scheduled to meet again Maurepas at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

French Settlement starter Gannon Allison had allowed just one baserunner through the first three innings on a two-out single by Landon Loupe in the 2nd inning, before Chase Guitreau drew a one-out walk in the 4th.

One out later, Bovia drove a two-strike pitch over the left-center field fence to give Maurepas a 2-1 lead.

"I just kind of felt it and it flew out," Bovia said. "I thought it was just a deep fly ball but it just went out. It was a fastball down the pipe, and I just cranked it."

Maurepas (2-2) built the lead to 5-1 with a two-out rally in the 5th. Andrew McCoy walked to open the inning before Allison came back to strike out the next two batters. Hunter Dupuy and Brad Wesley walked before the game was delayed for 20 minutes by lightning. Following the delay, Guitreau cleared the bases with a double into the left-center field gap.

"We had two strikes on them and we just couldn't have that put-away pitch," French Settlement coach Jaime Gautreau said. "We eventually had to put it over the plate, and they did a good job of hitting it."

French Settlement tried to rally in the bottom of the inning as Brody Bell and Riley Keller drew walks off Cole Bovia and Matt McCon was hit by a pitch. Edward Allison then hit a long drive to center but Aiden McCoy tracked it down as Bell scored.

Both runners moved up on a wild pitch as Ben Andrews walked, but Colby Penalber snared Jonas LeBourgeois' liner to second and flipped to Wesley at short for the game-ending double play.

"I'm happy with the way we are playing," Gautreau said. "I wish we could have hit the ball a little bit better. But going into that fourth inning, it was a 1-0 game. I'm not all that upset about it. We had a chance to win it in the end. We had the winning run at the plate and three feet either way, it's a different ballgame, but that is how it goes some times."

French Settlement got out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Andrews drew a lead-off walk off Bovia and scored on Brice Fruge's one-out double into the left field corner.

Cole Bovia went the distance, giving up two runs on two hits and four walks. He struck out two.

Allison went 4.2 innings, allowing five runs on three hits with three walks while striking out six.
