DENHAM SPRINGS – Four pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout and Denham Springs’ offense erupted for 14 runs over the first three innings en route to a 14-0 mercy-rule victory Tuesday over Scotlandville in District 4-5A play.
The Yellow Jackets (15-13, 5-4 in district) completes the regular season against arch-rival Walker at 6 p.m. Friday at North Park.
DSHS relied on a predetermined rotation of Brandon Kohn, Josh Preston, Larson Fabre and Cade Ross that limited Scotlandville (6-19, 0-8) to two hits.
The Yellow Jackets, which finished with 15 hits, opened with a five-run first inning, added seven more in the second and padded that lead with two more in the third inning.
LSU signee Cade Doughty was one of four players to register multiple hits, with the senior shortstop going 3-for-3 with three doubles and a pair of RBIs.
Sophomore second baseman Reese Smith went 2-4 with a triple, David Frye was also 2-4 and JT Gould was 2-2.
Walker will host Hammond in a regularly scheduled nondistrict game at 11 a.m. Friday.
