Albany has made a habit of scratching out some close wins in District 7-3A play, but Loranger turned the tables Tuesday.
The Wolves built a first-inning lead and scored a 6-4 victory over the Hornets.
Albany grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on Brock Bennett’s RBI double and an RBI single from Donovan Giamalva.
The Wolves came back with a three-run burst in the bottom of the inning, scoring runs on a wild pitch, a bases-loaded walk and a passed ball.
Giamalva’s two-run home run gave the Hornets a 4-3 lead in the top of the third, but the Wolves answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on Breyer Zahn’s run-scoring single and an RBI double from Clayton Bethel.
BJ Jackson’s solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth scored the game’s final run.
The Hornets had 11 hits as Bennett went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, Giamalva was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and run and Acey Martin and DJ Brumfield each went 2-for-4.
Reid Rayborn gave up four hits, five runs and walked two with no strikeouts in three innings to take the loss. Micah Cleveland gave up a hit, a run and struck out two in three innings of relief.
Evan Patterson went the distance for Loranger, giving up 11 hits, four runs, a walk and striking out three to get the win.
