St. Thomas Aquinas’ Luke Sweeney pitched a perfect game in an 11-0 win over French Settlement on Thursday to wrap up the series win for the Falcons in District 10-2A action.
The Falcons built a big lead to pick up a 9-2 win in the series opener Tuesday.
STA 11, FSHS 0
The Falcons backed Sweeney, who struck out seven, with five runs in the first, two in the second and four in the fourth to end the game early.
John Blanchard went 2-for-3 with four RBIS, and Ryan Dawsey was 2-for-2 with a run to lead STA, which had nine hits.
Brice Fruge gave up eight hits, 10 runs, one walk and struck out one in three innings, while Riley Keller gave up a hit and a run in an inning of relief.
STA 9, FSHS 2
The Falcons got rolling with a five-run first inning, tacked on two in the third and single runs in the fifth and sixth before FSHS picked up two in the bottom of the sixth on Brody Bell’s RBI grounder and an RBI double by Edward Allison.
Allison and Fruge each went 2-for-4 for the Lions.
Sam Smith was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Casey Artigues went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run and Ryan Dawsey was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for STA.
Blanchard gave up six hits, two runs, two walks and struck out four in five innings for the win.
Roman Hodges gave up six hits, eight runs and one walk in five innings for the loss. Will McMorris worked two innings in relief, giving up three hits, one run and one walk while striking out one.
