PONCHATOULA -- Ponchatoula scored the game-winning run on a error in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat Albany 5-4 on Monday.

The Lady Wave led off the inning with a walk and a single, setting up a bunt, which was misplayed at third, allowing the winning run to score.

Kaci Payne's RBI grounder put Albany (10-5) ahead 1-0 in the 1st, but Ponchatoula got a two-run home run as part of a three-run bottom of the frame to take the lead.

Heather Degenhardt's RBI double and an error helped the Lady Hornets tie things up at 3-3 in the 3rd.

Ponchatoula grabbed a 4-3 lead on an RBI double in the 4th, and Albany tied things up at 4-4 on Degenhardt's steal of home in the 6th.

Degenhardt went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run to lead Albany, which had four hits.

Brittney Turner and Annalea Giamalva combined to give up four hits and strike out seven for Albany.

Albany hosts Loranger at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
