The General Philemon Thomas Chapter, Louisiana Society, Sons of the American Revolution will host its inaugural ceremony to celebrate Flag Day June 14, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at the Old State Capitol, 100 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Sons of the American Revolution to Host Inaugural Flag Day Ceremony at Old State CapitolThe event will feature a singer, a Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard, and a reading of a Flag Day proclamation issued by Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards.
We will also recognize the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, with remarks by a representative of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Representatives of various area genealogical and historic societies will be on hand, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution, Granaderos y Damas de Galvez, Canary Islanders Heritage Association, and others.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
In recognition of Flag Day 2025, the New State Capitol Building will be illuminated in red, white and blue from dusk Friday, June 13, to dawn Saturday, June 14.
The Sons of the American Revolution honors our Revolutionary War patriot ancestors by promoting patriotism, serving our communities and educating and inspiring future generations about the founding principles of our Country.
