The Walker Disc Golf Park officially opened its fairways to the public on Friday, May 30, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked the culmination of a two-year community-driven project. Located behind Walker City Hall on Aydell Lane, the 18-hole course was developed through a partnership between the City of Walker, the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Livingston program, and world-renowned disc golf designer Avery Jenkins

The ribbon-cutting event, hosted at 10 a.m., featured remarks from city officials and project leaders, followed by light refreshments. The following day, the park hosted its inaugural tournament, drawing players from across the region to experience the new course .

The course has already garnered significant attention, boasting a 4.9 out of 5 rating on UDisc, a popular disc golf app, based on nearly 100 reviews. Designed to challenge players of all skill levels, the course features two par-4 holes and spans approximately 5,500 feet

Amenities at the park include concrete tee pads, DiscGolfPark Pro Targets, restroom facilities, and a shaded patio area behind the Parks and Recreation office, which serves as a clubhouse. Plans are underway to add a pro shop to further enhance the player experience

The project was made possible through the efforts of the Leadership Livingston class of 2024, which raised over $40,000 from more than 50 sponsors. These funds were used to purchase course equipment, signage, and landscaping materials

The Walker Disc Golf Park is open to the public during daylight hours and offers free admission. With its official opening, the park adds a premier disc golf destination to the region, promoting outdoor recreation and community engagement.
