Hundreds view live Nativity

WALKER — Hundreds of families came to the new Our Lady of the Lake medical center last Sunday afternoon to see a live Nativity presentation, complete with camel, choirs, and the humble manger where Jesus was born.

The presentation was repeated every 20 minutes, between 2-4 p.m., allowing time between programs for children to pet the animals and drink hot chocolate.

Children fed the camel graham crackers during intermission. Other animals included a donkey, sheep, miniature horses and chickens. A bunny decided to watch with the audience.

Sister Helen Cahill of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady welcomed residents to the program, put on by hospital employees and the North Corbin Junior High School choir under the direction of Rebecca Chelette.

April Ford, Marsha Bond, Aaron Bond, Myron Cotten, Sybil Cotten, and Madeline Cotten sang in the adult choir. Beverly Kimball played piano for the adult choir.

Earl Jackson, Supervisor of OLOL Livingston Housekeeping, narrated the story.

The role of Joseph was played by Brian Bercegeay from the Medical Imaging Department. Mary Thibodeaux, OLOL Physician Practice Administrator, played Mary.

As a doll representing Jesus was placed in the manger, Mary and Joseph were joined by two angels: Logan Jones (Imaging), and Isabel Bond (daughter of Marsha Bond, Nurse Manager, Emergency Department).

Village children, played by Brendon Jackson and Courtney Jackson, also came to see the baby Jesus, followed by three shepherds: Sharon Breaux (Housekeeping), Brian Breaux (Sharon Breaux’s son), and Jacob Bond (son of ER Nurse Marsha Bond).

The Wise Men were played by John Kahl (Access), Austin Barber (Imaging), and Thomas Martinez (Imaging).

Noah Smith, Mandi Monistere, Jill Wyble, Nikki Devalcourt, Jessica Ernst, and Tina Truxillo organized the petting zoo, served refreshments, and distributed Christmas Carol lyrics.
