DENHAM SPRINGS – U.S. Rep. Garret Graves, R-Baton Rouge, will be the keynote speaker for the Livingston Parish Chamber’s General Meeting at noon Thursday, May 31.

The public is invited to the meeting at Forrest Grove Plantation. An RSVP is required.

The meeting will focus on highlighting disaster funding and recovery to Livingston Parish since the Great Flood of 2016.

“We have seen robust progress following the flood, and our businesses and communities are to be commended for their resiliency,” said John Blount, chairman of the board of the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce.

“As we approach the two-year mark of the flood, it’s important to gain a clear understanding of new developments and changes at the federal level that will impact our parish and its communities,” Blount said.

“We anticipate Congressman Graves will bring a thorough update on the progress at the federal level.

“Congressman Graves has championed recovery efforts and took the time to meet with the chamber and its businesses to gain a clear understanding of the challenges they have faced,” he said.

“He has been attentive on our concerns to the oddities on what FEMA considers a valuable program for recovery, particularly as it refers to business, tax base and employment recovery,” said April Wehrs, chamber CEO/president.

“We look forward to clarity on any adjustments that allow for assistance to our parish,” she said.
