Ben Harris, a lifelong Denham Springs resident and longtime city employee, is running for mayor with the endorsement of current Denham Springs Mayor Gerard Landry.
"Ben shares a deep-rooted commitment to putting Denham Springs first," Mayor Landry said. "I have complete trust in his ability to build on our city's progress, protect our neighborhoods, and lead with integrity.
"I invite the citizens of Denham Springs to join me in supporting Ben Harris for mayor."
Harris has worked for the city since 2002, beginning as a laborer and working his way up to superintendent, a position he has held for the past eight years. He said his experience working under three administrations has given him insight into the city’s needs and the approaches that have and have not worked.
During his nearly 25 years with the city, Harris said he has worked alongside employees across multiple departments during disasters and major weather events, helping maintain utilities and provide other assistance to residents. He also serves as a POST-certified reserve police officer.
“The City of Denham Springs is my life, personally and professionally,” Harris said.
If elected, Harris said he would prioritize transparency between city government and residents, along with greater public education and awareness. He also pledged to preserve the character of Denham Springs while continuing his service to the city.
