LIVINGSTON, La. — A Livingston Parish judge revoked bond Tuesday for a Denham Springs man accused in a fatal hit-and-run after he was arrested on drug charges while awaiting trial.

Brandon Chenevert, 31, will remain in jail without bond after a 21st Judicial District Court judge ruled on the motion to revoke his original bond in the death of 20-year-old Jody Mann.

Chenevert was originally arrested in April 2025 and charged with negligent homicide, hit-and-run, and obstruction of justice after allegedly striking Mann as she walked along Louisiana Highway 1023 near Highway 63 on March 29, 2025. Mann was hospitalized and later died from her injuries.

While out on bond for those charges, Chenevert was arrested Dec. 8, 2025, by Livingston Parish Sheriff's deputies on drug charges. According to Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer, Chenevert was found in possession of marijuana vapes and charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute.

At Tuesday's hearing, a Livingston Parish Sheriff's narcotics agent testified that deputies found 10 packaged THC vapes during a search of Chenevert's car.

Mann's mother, Holly Crow, attended the hearing along with family, friends, and supporters who gathered outside the courthouse.

"Today's decision to revoke Brandon Chenevert's bond is an important step toward accountability, and it brings our family a sense of relief," Crow said in a statement. "Someone who continues to violate the law while facing such serious charges is a danger to the public, and we are grateful he will not be out putting others at risk."

Chenevert has pleaded not guilty to the original charges and remains in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
