LIVINGSTON. La. — Two upcoming road projects will bring temporary closures and long-term improvements to Livingston Parish infrastructure, parish officials announced this week.

Burgess Road Bridge replacement set to begin July 28

Construction is scheduled to begin around July 28 on the replacement of the Burgess Road Bridge over West Colyell Creek. The $1.87 million project is expected to be completed by spring 2026.

According to the parish, Burgess Road will remain open until the nearby Lockhart Bridge, currently closed due to emergency conditions, is fully repaired and reopened by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

Temporary closure planned for section of Pea Ridge Road

A separate road project will require a two-week closure of a section of Pea Ridge Road starting Thursday, July 24. The closed portion will extend from 1,000 feet south of the Old CC Road intersection to 500 feet north of the William Jones Road intersection.

A signed detour route will guide drivers through Old CC Road, Highway 43, and Lowe Lane, depending on their approach. The total detour is approximately 3.58 miles.

All signage and safety measures will follow DOTD standards, officials said.

Both projects are part of Livingston Parish’s ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing road safety and long-term connectivity.
