The City of Walker is proud to announce its 4th Annual Get Out & Fish! event, taking place Saturday, May 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sidney Hutchinson Park. This family-friendly fishing event is co-sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) and the Walker High School Fishing Team, offering a fun and accessible introduction to fishing for residents of all ages.
The event will feature a freshly stocked fishing pond loaded with catfish, ensuring plenty of opportunities for anglers to make a catch. Loaner fishing poles will be available from LDWF, making it easy for newcomers and families to participate. Members of the Walker High Fishing Team will be on hand to assist young anglers with tips and techniques.
Participants will compete for awards in three age categories: 10 years old and under, 11 to 14 years old, and 15 years and older. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on the total weight of fish brought to the scale.
We invite everyone to join us for a morning of outdoor fun and friendly competition. It’s a great opportunity for families to get outside, enjoy nature, and learn more about fishing in our community.
