DENHAM SPRINGS, La. — Monday’s meeting of the Denham Springs City Council was a swift affair, with council members enjoying a platter of homemade sweet treats and finger foods before getting down to business.
The decadent sampler, courtesy of Councilwoman Lori Lamm-Williams, featured chocolate chip cookies, vanilla cake slices, and even finger sandwiches, arranged in an impressive spread. Lamm-Williams discussed how she often puts together snack trays for the council members when they have long days of meetings.
“It’s nice to have a snack during the day,” she added with a smile.
The first item the board addressed was a hearing on a noise variance for T'quilas Bar & Grill for Cinco de Mayo on May 3-5, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.
Alex Estrada, one of the managers and owners of T'quilas, spoke up to say that the celebration of Cinco de Mayo will coincide with the establishment’s anniversary, resulting in a three-day total that includes both events.
With no public opposition, the council voted unanimously to approve the variance.
Next up, the council unanimously voted to reappoint Stacy Jones and Bill Waldrep as trustees to the Livingston Parish-Denham Springs Mortgage Finance Authority, both for six-year terms.
Following this, the council unanimously authorized Mayor Gerard Landry to enter into an amendment to an existing contract with Advanced Office Care. The new contract will include cleaning services for the Ward II Marshal and City Court office areas at an additional cost of $125 per month, for a total monthly contract amount of $1,395.
Finally, the council announced it will hold three public hearings on May 26, 2026, each addressing the introduction of ordinances that will amend different sections of the existing zoning ordinances, specifically related to the rezoning of properties. One rezoning ordinance was requested by Clifton Brown, and the other two were requested by Knighten Investments.
