DENHAM SPRINGS — The Denham Springs City Council on Tuesday recognized four members of the Denham Springs Fire Department for their role in saving the life of an 11-month-old infant earlier this fall.
Fire Chief Richard Stafford told the council that on September 12, firefighters from Companies E352 and E353 responded to a critical medical call involving an unresponsive infant.
“Through their rapid assessment, decisive action, and exceptional teamwork, these firefighters provided life-saving interventions that ultimately restored the child’s breathing and pulse prior to EMS transport,” Stafford said. “Their skill, composure, and dedication under pressure exemplify the highest standards of the fire service.”
Stafford presented the department’s Life Save Awards to Capt. Collin Albin, Firefighter Operator Ty Wainwright, Capt. Caleb Tomlinson and Firefighter Operator Christian Laborde.
The council also heard a presentation from Livingston Parish Clerk of Court Jason Harris, who provided a brief overview of his office’s functions. Harris noted that the Clerk of Court maintains an office in Denham Springs, located across from the post office.
“One thing we can do is provide quick access to birth certificates in a matter of minutes,” Harris said. “No longer do you have to obtain vital records from New Orleans.”
In other business during the approximately half-hour meeting, the council approved payments of $63,329.26 to L. King Co. for the Traveling Bridge sand filter rehabilitation project and $50,000 to the same company for assisting the city’s Gas Department with GIS mapping of its gas system.
The council also approved owner-engineer agreements for improvements to Demco Road and Rushing Road, as well as Home Depot Drive, and declared two Police Department vehicles as surplus.
