BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana House of Representatives has commended the Denham Springs High School Robotics Team, Denham Venom, for its victory at the FIRST Robotics Pikes Peak Regional Competition in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
House Resolution 153, authored by Rep. Wilder, recognizes the team for defeating a field of 33 teams, including international competitors from Mexico and Taiwan. The win lifted Denham Venom to 15th in the world rankings, 13th in the United States, and first in Louisiana, and secured the team a place in the 2026 FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas.
The team also earned the Quality Award at the Pikes Peak competition, recognized for excellence in robotic design and pit efficiency.
Denham Venom previously won the FIRST Robotics Magnolia Regional Competition in Laurel, Mississippi, on March 19 through 21, and the Bayou Regional Competition in Kenner on April 2 through 4. The resolution notes that Denham Venom is the only FIRST Robotics team in Louisiana history to sweep three regional competitions.
The team is led by Coach Daniel Eiland. Major sponsors include NASA, Weyerhaeuser, DoD STEM, West Coast Products, Fabworks, the Gene Haas Foundation, and Limelight.
